Sheehan arrested posted December 29, 2006

Apparently Cindy Sheehan and four other protesters were arrested Thursday for blocking a road near President Bush's ranch, authorities said, snagging Vice President Dick Cheney's motorcade in a traffic jam.

Why is this woman still news? The Democrats hardly mention her name any more. Maybe next time she’ll do something stupid enough to stay in jail.

Boston Globe lies posted December 28, 2006

The Boston Globe reported "The armed forces, already struggling to meet recruiting goals, are considering expanding the number of noncitizens in the ranks -- including disputed proposals to open recruiting stations overseas and putting more immigrants on a faster track to US citizenship if they volunteer -- according to Pentagon officials."

Of course we think it is absolutely ridiculous that our government would offer a fast track to citizenship given all the trouble we have in this country with illegal immigration.

Besides the obvious problem we also have an issue with the reporting in the story. The military is not having a problem meeting recruiting goals as proven by this AP report.

Does the Boston Globe even bother to look at the AP news feeds before they put something in print? The comment, "The armed forces, already struggling to meet recruiting goals…" is an outright lie.

We’ve already sent a letter to the editor (baron@globe.com) and sincerely hope you do the same. Demand they get their facts straight.

Rest in peace President Ford posted December 27, 2006

The only man never elected to the position of Vice President or President to actually serve as President of the United States has passed away.

Immediately after taking the oath of office Ford told the nation, "I am acutely aware that you have not elected me as your President by your ballots, and so I ask you to confirm me as your President with your prayers."

He may not have been the President we wanted but he was the President for the time.

President Ford is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Ford, his children and grand children.

Tell them to name a highway after Reagan posted December 27, 2006

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that New Jersey Republicans are pushing for a highway to be named after Ronald Reagan.

In Democrat controlled New Jersey it doesn’t appear this will happen. The paper reports, (Republicans have even proposed a compromise in which they would support naming something after Democrat Woodrow Wilson.) Of course that isn’t good enough for the Democrats.

They do not want to see a highway named after Reagan even though the man carried New Jersey twice.

We’re thinking maybe the folks in Jersey need a little push. You can help by getting everyone you know, especially people in Jersey, to send emails to Assembly Speaker Joe Roberts (here) and Senate President Richard Codey (here).

We hope this is on You Tube posted December 26, 2006

The New York Times and pretty much every other media outlet is reporting that An Iraqi appeals court today upheld a death sentence for Saddam Hussein in a decision that clears the way for his execution within 30 days.

On December 19 we wrote that Iraqis are forming a line to kill Hussein because according to a report in The Ledger, “One of the most coveted jobs in Iraq does not yet exist: the executioner for Saddam Hussein.” Given this decision it appears that line will be ending soon.

We can only hope the execution, considering it is supposed to be public, is available on You Tube.

Jeb says no to President... again posted December 21, 2006

Florida Governor Jeb Bush said again that he will not run for President. Actually he said, "No tengo futuro," to a group of Spanish-language reporters in Miami. Of course we think he should have said it in English and there is no need for Spanish-language newspapers in America where we speak English, but that’s a post for another day.

The point here is Governor Bush knows he cannot run for President after his brother the President. He doesn’t need to say why because we all know it’s because Republicans in Washington haven’t been acting like Republicans, they’ve been spending, spending, spending, which makes us want to pull a Bob Barr and bolt to the Libertarian Party.

We admit we feel bad for Jeb. If only Republicans would have acted like Republicans then we might get a third President Bush. Even one of our favorite candidates, Sam Brownback told reporters that he is a "Jeb Bush-type conservative."

It’s ashamed because Governor Bush would probably make a great candidate but, like Brownback told reporters, "People may be wanting to see a different name."

Corzine signs civil union bill posted December 21,2006

Limousine liberal Governor Corzine signed New Jersey’s Civil Union bill into law today.

What an interesting place New Jersey is. First a gay governor and now a governor who signs a Civil Union bill into law.

The worst thing about this Civil Union law is it was forced on the NJ Assembly by the State Supreme Court when the Court ordered New Jersey to "offer marriage or its equivalent to gay couples."

Also ridiculous is the whining about this law from the gay community. According to the local ABC News affiliate, gay couples have welcomed the new law, but argue not calling it "marriage" creates a different, inferior institution. Even some same-sex couples who attended the bill signing remained lukewarm about the law.

"It's a step forward, but it's not true equality," said Veronica Hoff, 52, of Mount Laurel, as she stood with her partner.

A different, inferior institution? Giving same-sex couples marriage hurts marriage. Are these people too wrapped up in themselves to see that?

Now, in New Jersey they have the same contractual rights as married couples and they aren’t even happy with that compromise. Gay couples now have more rights than straight couples who choose to live together rather than marry. The only people who end up inferior by allowing gays to marry or civil unions are straight people.

So to all you gay but not happy couples in New Jersey we have this to say: Good luck when some liberal judge allows you to adopt a child and that child goes to school and gets harassed at school by being asked, "so which one of those men is you dad and which is your mom?"

All you think about is yourselves. After you adopt a child he or she is going to be very confused on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

Hopefully you can see how bad gay marriage and civil unions are for the children. And please don’t give us any crap about it still being a family.

Update - Another Brownback campaign press release has been placed on our Press Releases page.

McKinney's campaign manager hates white people and uppity black folks posted December 20, 2006

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Monday that Republican State Rep. Len Walker introduced a resolution which would switch Cynthia McKinney Parkway back to its original name, Memorial Drive. He says it's partly to honor victims of the September 11th  terrorist attacks. He also says, her name "has brought embarrassment to the state of Georgia."

What we found simply amazing was the comment from Ms. McKinney's former campaign manager. This guy, when asked about Walker's claim that McKinney has embarrassed Georgia, actually said, "He must be talking about white folks or uppity black folks."

Could you imagine if a Republican politician or a GOP campaign manager made that statement? The liberals would go nuts. Why is it okay for this guy to say, "He must be talking about white folks or uppity black folks."? When hurricanes hit George Bush gets blamed and he hates black people but this Democrat campaign manager hates white people and "uppity black folks" and not a single liberal cares. Maybe they'll get upset when Speaker Pelosi gets some tax increases through the House.

Iraqis are forming a line to kill Hussein posted December 19, 2006

According to a report in The Ledger, “One of the most coveted jobs in Iraq does not yet exist: the executioner for Saddam Hussein. The death sentence against Mr. Hussein is still under review by an appeals court, but hundreds of people have already started lobbying the prime minister’s office for the position.”

We want to know how can we get that job? We’ll do it free and pay our own airfare.

If we don’t get the job it seems we’ll still be able to watch it because, according to the article, “Officials have considered staging a public hanging in Baghdad’s largest sports arena, Shaab Stadium, and filling the place with tens of thousands of spectators, according to a high-ranking government official involved in the executions process, who agreed to discuss the subject on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about it on the record.”

It’ll be so awesome watching this guy get put to death, in person, on TV or on the internet, we don’t care, we just want to see it if we can’t actually have the job of doing it.

Former Oklahoma Governor may run posted December 18, 2006

The Associated Press reports former Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating is mulling a possible bid for the presidency, voicing concern that the 2008 Republican lineup lacks a Ronald Reagan conservative.

Go figure, that’s what wealthy Chicago businessman John Cox has been saying for months. As best we can tell, Sam Brownback feels the same way. Even RINO John McCain compares himself to Reagan these days.

Gay but not happy in New Jersey posted December 15, 2006

The Peoples Republic of New Jersey have given us this:

The New Jersey State Assembly approved Gay Civil Unions 56-19 with 5 members taking the cowardly way out and abstaining. The State Senate followed with a 23-12 vote in favor of allowing homosexuals who shack-up with each other to get the same benefits as married men and women.

The liberal Democrat who sponsored the Assembly’s bill, Wilfredo Caraballo, said he would have preferred to legalize same-sex marriage, but there was not enough support yet.

He was quoted, "We simply don't have the votes today. What we do have is the will to undo centuries of discrimination.”

Excuse us while we puke!

The bright spot of the day was Republican Richard Merkt’s attack on the State Supreme Court for affirming the equal rights of same-sex couples.

Merkt was quoted, "This Assembly will rubber-stamp a law dictated by an unelected judiciary."

Of course the homos aren’t happy to have civil unions with the exact same rights as married men and women. God forbid these people don’t get exactly what they want and the word marriage. The head of the group Garden State Equality, Stephen Goldstein, was quoted, “I'm glad for the progress but not very satisfied." He then went on to say he would continue fighting for same-sex marriage.

Mary, Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow now has a whole new meaning in New Jersey.

Are Americans really pessimistic about the war in Iraq posted 12/14/2006

All the news agencies say Americans are pessimistic about the war in Iraq. Frankly, we feel that is untrue and given the fact that the Associated Press has reported that every branch of the military met or exceeded its recruiting goals last month we believe we are right.

Seriously, why would so many people be joining the military knowing they may go to Iraq if they were pessimistic about the war?

Naturally, liberals are going to say we're wrong but you can't argue with logic... well, unless you're a liberal.

MoveOn wants a re-vote posted 12/13/2006

The folks over at MoveOn are so upset over the paperless voting machines used in Florida that they have taken to the internet to demand a new election in the Sarasota, FL area House district.

Our problem with this, besides the fact it’s a bunch of liberal nut jobs is, if they have a problem with paperless voting machines shouldn’t they have a problem with a paperless petition?

Seriously, these people are so upset over the paperless voting machines that they want people to sign a PAPERLESS petition telling incoming House Speaker Pelosi to call for a re-vote in Florida.

So, rather than complaining about these people and their paperless petition, we decided to do something. We both signed it and left the following message (you may want to do the same):

I discovered this paperless petition and that its comments are being sent to "incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House leaders" I felt in necessary to sign it and leave the following comment:

Do not call for a re-vote or a new election in Florida. The election is over and the winner decided. I am sick and tired of these people crying whenever their pick loses, 2000 (yet they have yet to say a word about the votes the Democrats stole in Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago and countless other cities), 2004 and this House race to name a few.

Please, incoming Speaker Pelosi, do me a HUGE favor and tell these cry babies at MoveOn to stop with this stuff.

Thank you.

Immediately after hitting the submit button we were greeted with this message:

Thank you. Your name has been added to the petition and your comments will be delivered to incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House leaders.

We can do even more to urge Congress to call for a re-vote in Florida—and to focus the nation's attention on our broken election system—by placing a full-page ad in the New York Times. We need to raise $87,000 to reserve space and design the ad. Can you pitch in?

NO! We can’t pitch in. We’re having all our friends go to your site and sign your stinking petition with the message we left or something similar. Maybe if enough people do it you will stop with you nonsense.

So far 96 people have emailed us stating they signed the petition with messages similar to our message. We hope that number grows.

News Update: We lost another seat in Congress posted 12/12/2006

Former Congressman Ciro Rodriguez defeated seven-term Republican Henry Bonilla in a runoff election Tuesday, adding another Democrat to Congress.

With more than half the precincts reporting in the state's largest district, Rodriguez had 57 percent to Bonilla's 43 percent.

Romney is running but probably not too far posted 12/12/2006

According to more than a few sources (news and others) yesterday Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney said he plans to file paperwork to form a Presidential exploratory committee.

Romney who had positioned himself as the conservative in the race has been torpedoed by this letter. Apparently he was begging the Log Cabin Republicans (they're the gay ones for those who don't know) for their endorsement and wrote, in part, "...as we seek to establish full equality for America's gay and lesbian citizens, I will provide more leadership than my opponent."

Unfortunately for Romney, he didn't stop there and went on to agree with Bill Clinton in writing.

As far as we're concerned, even after Romney becomes an official candidate, there are still only two conservatives (so far) and they are U.S. Senator Sam Brownback and wealthy Chicago businessman John Cox (who did a great job on MSNBC over the weekend).

News Release from Brownback campaign posted 12/11/2006

Now that we are receiving campaign press releases we have added a new Press Releases page.

Today's release from the Brownback campaign wasn't much. They're just letting voters (and the media) know that, "U.S. Senator Sam Brownback will meet with grassroots leaders and activists at the Polk County GOP Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 12."

Brownback campaign replies posted 12/11/2006

Last week we sent an email to Republican Presidential candidates (announced or with exploratory committees). In that email we wrote, in part, “We invite you or your staff to send us your official bio for us to place on the Presidential candidates page. You are also welcome to send us your campaign press releases and/or official campaign statements. We do have day jobs but will get anything you send us up as quickly as possible.”

Thus far we have received only one response, the Brownback campaign. They sent us the bio and added us to their press list. As such the campaign 2008 page has been updated.

We’re glad to see one campaign has its act together!

English-only legislation posted 12/8/2006

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution State Rep. Timothy Bearden (R-Villa Rica) filed legislation that would prohibit Georgia and all of its cities and counties from issuing official documents and forms in any language other than English.

Apparently, the state offers a driver license exam in 14 languages, which is ridiculous.

State Rep. Willie Talton (R-Warner Robins) signed on as a cosponsor to Bearden's bill and said, "If we leave and go to a foreign country, what do we have to do? We have to learn their language. Our forefathers spoke the English language and that is what we should do."

We couldn’t agree more, you should speak, write and read English.

If this doesn't make you fear for your children's future, we give up posted 12/7/2006

OPORTO, Portugal (Reuters) - European Socialists promised on Thursday to work to rebuild Europe's strategic alliance with the United States now that the Democrats control Congress after last month's elections.

Socialist leaders attending a meeting of the European Socialist Party pledged that with the Democrats on the rise, strong ties could be renewed with the United States after years of cool relations with Republican President George W. Bush.

Howard Dean, chairman of the national committee of the U.S. Democratic Party, is attending the two-day conference together with the leaders of leftist governments of several countries and party leaders from across Europe.

"We are not anti-American, we want the real America, your America," former Danish Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, president of the European Socialist Party, said in remarks directed at Dean.

The Democrats gained control of both houses of Congress for the first time since 1994 in the mid-term elections, reshaping the political landscape ahead of the 2008 presidential race.

"Europe needs an America that is back on track," said Portuguese Socialist Prime Minister Jose Socrates, whose country is hosting the meeting.

"We need, today more than ever, to reinforce and renew the strategic alliance between the United States and Europe," Socrates said. "We know that a stronger Democratic Party is key for this to happen."

Socialists, or centre-left governments, currently hold or share power in just over half of Europe.

Many European governments, not just Socialist ones, have above all been angered by Bush's war in Iraq and what has been seen as the U.S. failure to work with allies in international affairs.

They expressed hopes after last month's election for a new era of open dialogue on a more equal footing with Washington and the Bush administration during the final two years of his presidency.

Socrates said Dean's Democrats "should know that they can count on European Socialists" for support.

Happy Pearl Harbor Day posted 12/7/2006

December 7, "a date which will live in infamy." 2,403 Americans died: 2,335 military and 68 civilians.

Fast forward to the events of February 26, 1993 and September 11, 2001. Combined, those attacks resulted in 2,979 innocent men, women and children from 92 countries losing their lives.

So, more people died at the hands of the terrorists and the liberals whine that we went to war for oil.

All we can say is shut up and let the military take care of business. It’s not like we’re dropping an atomic bomb on anyone.

Thank you Senators Santorum and Bunning posted 12/7/2006

As you know the US Senate confirmed Robert Gates yesterday as the next Defense Secretary. The vote was 95-2. Apparently the only two Senators who chose to stand by their beliefs were Senators Rick Santorum and Jim Bunning. They voted against Gates because they were not happy about his confirmation comments criticizing the war in Iraq and US policy towards Iran.

We say to the Senators, thanks for standing up for your beliefs.

RINOs lead Liberals. Where are the conservatives?posted 12/6/2006

The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll says Kerry trails Giuliani and McCain by double digits.

According to the Rasmussen website:

"Arizona Senator John McCain (R) leads Massachusetts Senator John Kerry (D) 53% to 36% in a hypothetical Election 2008 match-up. McCain is the preferred candidate across all gender and age demographics in this contest and he even pulls nearly one-quarter (24%) of Democrats’ votes away from Kerry.

The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll also finds former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) handily beating Kerry in a potential match-up, 51% to 37%.  As is the case with McCain, Giuliani wins with both men and women and with every age group.

McCain and Giuliani also lead other Democratic contenders including Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Barack Obama, and former Vice-President Al Gore. However, all of those candidates are more competitive than Kerry."

We're curious as to where conservatives fit in this poll.

Try diplomacy in Iraq? posted 12/6/2006

According to pretty much every news outlet on the planet President Bush received a report from a high level commission that recommended the United States should enhance diplomacy in Iraq which would permit the withdrawal of most combat troops by early 2008.

What a joke! We have friends who are over there. We have friends who have recently returned. One of us is prior military. What we have heard from EVERY ONE OF OUR FRIENDS is that they should be allowed to do their jobs. The rules of engagement are ridiculous. Let our soldiers do what they have been trained to do and things will change overnight.
